The Ghanaian government has unveiled a record investment of GH₵33.3 billion in the 2026 education budget, marking one of the largest financing packages in the country’s history. Funds will support free secondary education, infrastructure upgrades, teacher housing, and learning materials nationwide.
This historic allocation follows earlier reforms aimed at improving access and quality, including major investments in basic education infrastructure such as classrooms, sanitation, and teaching resources. The budget also prioritizes expanding the Free SHS policy and supporting school feeding programs.
Education officials describe the funding as critical to addressing long-standing challenges in the sector, improving equity, and preparing Ghana’s youth for future opportunities.
